Duo Somniatis was created by the pianist Margarida Prates and the flutist Sofia Silva.
The human friendship that bounds the two musicians is evident on stage, such as the pleasure of playing together materializing their will of exploring original repertoire for flute and piano.
With a wide range of repertoire, from the classical period to the XXI Century, the Duo pays special attention to the music written by living composers. The portuguese composer Sérgio Azevedo wrote and dedicated the Duo a piece in 2015.
Duo Somniatis has performed in various halls in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy.
After a great sucess in France, at Chateâu de Verges in 2014, the Duo was invited to perform in Lyon.
The press praised their performance by writing: “Very emotional concert, with melodies and rythms from diferent countries, that arrived to our heart trough a duo for flute and piano”. (Jorge de Campos – Lusojornal, 2015).
In 2016 Duo Somniatis was chosen between 1826 contestants to the finale of Torneo Internazionale di Musica di Camera in Turin, Italy. After four eliminatory rounds the Duo was awarded the third prize.
Since 2011 Duo Somniatis is regularly invited to perform live concerts for the Portugal National Broadcast.
Due to personal reasons, the duo discontinued its activity in 2020.
